  • Edge coverage matters. PVD coating applied correctly covers link edges and transition surfaces, not just flat faces. Exposed steel at link edges in QC photos indicates either masking during application or insufficient coating depth.
  • PVD is harder than standard plating but not impervious to wear. High-contact points — clasp inner surfaces, bracelet underside, crown edges — show wear first. At high-end grade this takes significantly longer than at lower grades where coating thickness is reduced.
  • Surface preparation before coating affects adhesion. A bracelet with surface scratches or inconsistent finishing beneath the PVD layer will show those imperfections through the coating — visible as texture variation in close QC photos.
  • PVD-coated bracelets should be evaluated as a matched set with the case. A correctly executed PVD replica has consistent coating tone across both case and bracelet — not a slightly different shade on each, which indicates components sourced or coated separately.
