- Weight is a reliable in-hand quality indicator. Correctly produced ceramic is noticeably lighter than a steel bracelet of equivalent size. A ceramic bracelet that feels as heavy as steel is likely ceramic-coated metal rather than solid ceramic construction.
- Ceramic is brittle under impact. A correctly produced ceramic bracelet will chip or crack at link edges under sharp impact — this is a property of the material, not a manufacturing defect. Buyers should be aware that ceramic bracelets require more careful handling than steel alternatives.
