  • Reflection clarity is the primary polish quality indicator. A correctly polished surface reflects objects sharply and without distortion — like a mirror. A surface that reflects objects but with visible blur, haze, or distortion has not been polished to the final stage. This is most visible in QC photos taken under a single directional light source where the reflection of the light itself is visible on the case surface.
  • Micro-scratch visibility under direct light is a grade indicator. Even on a high-quality polish, fine handling marks accumulate with use — but a new watch should arrive with a clean polish showing no scratches under direct light. Visible scratches on a polished surface in QC photos indicate either insufficient final polishing or mishandling during assembly and packaging.
  • The boundary between polished and brushed surfaces must be sharp and defined. Polished bleed onto an adjacent brushed surface — where the polishing compound or wheel has crossed the finishing boundary — produces a smeared, semi-polished zone that is neither correctly brushed nor correctly polished. This is one of the most common finishing failures on replica cases and bracelets.
  • Polished surfaces show wear faster than brushed surfaces in daily use. Every contact with a hard surface — a desk edge, a watch winder, another piece of jewelry — leaves a visible scratch on a polished face.
